GM Europe and Africa! Good day Asia and Australia! Here's a new Art Challenge:
2026 Calendar Challenge – 12 weeks, 12 months, 12 chances to turn “I want to be creative” into “I’m actually creating.”
Each week you make one visual capture of the month—any medium, any style. The focus is on the process, not the polish.

Week 1 – January
Core Theme: Fresh Beginnings
Prompt: “What does a new year feel like for me?”
Think snow‑covered evergreens, pine cones, fireworks, a quiet hearth… let the feeling guide your art.

Optional Creative Exercise
1) Sketch a “first‑light” scene.
2) Write a 1‑page letter to your future self and tuck it into the page.

For June I was going to incorporate fireflies and the joy of childhood. And then I was reminded of the movie Grave of the Fireflies and I just couldn't keep going with that theme, it depressed me IMMEDIATELY. So I switched to summer solstice stuff. I know there's the horror movie Midsommar but I'd rather be frightened than utterly depressed and hopeless. June is such a strange month 😅

Only watch these movies if you enjoy horror (Midsommar), or want to lose your faith in humanity (Grave of the Fireflies)
